Origin
Cabernet Sauvignon is a french variety, probably from Bordeaux. It is now spread throughout the world, especially where wines are produced in massive amounts.
Main characteristics
The grapes are of small size, with bluish colour, and thick skin. Maturation is slow and late, and it presents great resistance to rottenness. It is not suited for extreme weathers.
What kind of wine does Cabernet Sauvignon originates
The wines tend to be dark, with intense taste to red and black berries, cherries and plums, green pepper and eucalyptus. These wines also possess a noble structure of tannins, which allows them to undergo ageing periods. In a Cabernet from Bairrada, cool and humid region, there can be expected herbal aromas and tastes, while in a Cabernet from Alentejo the red berries and mature fruits will be dominant.
